Obituary of Laslo Lewis Jacobs

Laslo L. Jacobs

January 14, 1978-March 8, 2024

On Friday, March 8, 2024, at the age of 46, Laslo passed away unexpectedly following health complications.

Born on January 14, 1978 in Rochester, NY, Laslo was the son of Laslo S. and Agota (Kuti) Jacobs. Laslo shared a special relationship with his younger brother, Attila. They were close throughout all of their childhood, and adolescence, and this continued throughout their adult lives. Laslo grew up in West Irondequoit, entertaining all of the neighborhood with his antics (including his first joyride in his dad’s car at only 12 years old!). He graduated from Irondequoit High School in 1996, then went on to earn a technical certificate from MCC. Laslo spent 20 years working at a small manufacturing company in Rochester, NicoForm, as an electroforming technician. In 2009, Laslo married Kathryn Furner on her family’s small farm in Sauquoit, NY. Together they bought a home in Spencerport, NY where they welcomed their much adored son, Silas.

Laslo was well known for his kind heart, big grin with dimples for days, easy laugh, and goofy personality. Laslo had never met a stranger in his life, he personified the gift of gab. He had a love for anything with an engine, which he shared with his son. If it moved, he could fix it (or make it faster, brighter, and most importantly, louder!). He loved music of many kinds, and shared this enjoyment often with his brother and son. Laslo enjoyed short-wave radios, particularly to have the inside information while watching trains and planes with his brother and son. He always had a particular exuberance for fireworks! Some of the most cherished memories his son will carry forward are the times spent together having fires in the driveway, almost daily.

Laslo is survived by his beloved wife of 14 years, Kathryn (Katy) and their son, Silas; his mother, Agota and brother, Attila; father and mother-in-law Scott & Deb Furner; brother and sister-in-law Chad & Patricia Parsons and their son Caleb; brother and sister-in-law Robert & Bridgette Miller and their children Hannah, Lucielle, William, and Zachary; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins both here in the US and in Hungary. Laslo is predeceased by his father, Laslo S. Jacobs.

His family will receive friends Sunday, March 17, 1:00 - 4:00 pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Highway So.). Friends are invited to join the family Monday, March 18, 10:00 am at St. Kateri at St. Margaret Mary Church for his funeral mass. Inurnment Irondequoit Cemetery.
